ContractExpress for law firms:
- As an online marketing tool, ContractExpress is being used to “showcase” the firm’s advanced legal capabilities. Examples include Wilson Sonsini in Palo Alto, Goodwin Procter in Boston, and Linklaters in London.
- As a client collaboration tool, ContractExpress is being used by law firms to enable their clients to complete an intelligent and interactive online questionnaire on the firm’s web site or sent by email, and have the generated Word document automatically sent to an associate for review.
- As a client portal, ContractExpress for SharePoint is being used by law firms to provide their clients with user specific “dashboards” to enter new deal points, roundtrip answers into newer versions, and generate locked PDFs or route to an attorney for review depending on the client’s answers.
- As a volume assembly “engine”, ContractExpress is being used in data driven workflows for processing foreclosures and other volume matters on behalf of large corporate clients on-shore yet at a price that satisfies the client and makes a healthy profit for the partnership. Read about Poyner Spruill’s e4Close.
- As a client draft generator, ContractExpress is being used by associates and paralegals to rapidly and accurately create client draft documents for subsequent deal negotiations, optionally using ContractExpress Drafter to speed those negotiations. Also to rapidly, accurately, and cost effectively create repetitive “secondary” deal documents, such as bondholders’ memos.
- As an engagement letter generator, ContractExpress is being used to create consistent and compliant engagement letters, ethical wall memos, and other firm administrative documents where speed, consistency, compliancy, integration with other systems, and cost reduction are important.
Generating fully compliant Word documents
Whether answers are provided by the client, by an associate or paralegal in the firm,
or by a data driven workflow, the generated result will be one or more fully compliant Word doc or docx documents or locked PDFs. Either way, each document is meaningfully named and fully styled, with numbering, cross references, pagination, headers/footers, footnotes, and table of contents – all as determined by the Word template using standard law firm Word styles and tools, and all without requiring any post assembly intervention to apply or correct Word styling.
N-drafting - combining manual and generated changes in negotiating documents
For law firms using Word 2007 or later, ContractExpress Drafter uniquely assists lawyers to safely and intuitively roundtrip and combine existing manual edits of the Word document with generated changes made by amending one or more of the existing ContractExpress answers (such as changing a commercial credit agreement from a term loan to a revolver loan).
